ZAMBIA AIRWAYS APPOINTS MR. AMAN WOLE GURMU AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Board of Zambia Airways (2014) Limited has recently announced the appointment of Mr. Aman Wole Gurmu as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 August 2026.
Mr. Wole joins Zambia Airways from the Ethiopian Airlines Group, bringing over 19 years of international aviation experience in airline leadership, commercial strategy, sales, market development, and strategic partnerships. His distinguished career includes senior leadership positions across Africa, Europe, and Asia, including Regional Director for Mainland China and Mongolia, Regional Director for France and the Maghreb , Area Manager for Zambia, and Director of Sales in Addis Ababa.
Board Chairperson Mr. Jomo Matululu welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Mr. Wole’s global experience and strategic leadership will strengthen Zambia Airways’ growth and competitiveness.
“This appointment reflects the Board’s commitment to strong leadership and our vision of building a competitive, safe, customer-focused and market-driven airline that connects Zambia to regional and global opportunities,” said Mr. Matululu.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wole has led airline transformation initiatives, revenue growth, network expansion, stakeholder engagement, and commercial development. As CEO, he will lead the airline’s next phase of growth by enhancing operational excellence, improving customer experience, expanding the route network, strengthening strategic partnerships, ensuring financial sustainability, and fostering a high-performance culture anchored on safety, innovation, and professionalism.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Wole said:
