Guinea–Egypt: EgyptAir Expresses Interest in the Guinean Airspace

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Ousmane Gaoual DIALLO, received a delegation from the airline EgyptAir today, which came to express the company’s interest in opening a regular air route between Cairo and Conakry.

During the meeting, the airline’s representatives presented EgyptAir’s ambitions to strengthen its presence across the African continent by serving Guinea. This initiative is part of a broader effort to develop economic, commercial, tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Minister welcomed the initiative, stressing that strengthening air connectivity between Guinea and Egypt is timely and important. He recalled the historic and fraternal ties between the two states, dating back to the presidencies of Ahmed Sékou Touré and Gamal Abdel Nasser, as well as the excellent cooperation between the two countries in several strategic sectors.

Mr. Ousmane Gaoual DIALLO also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in training, capacity building and the transfer of expertise, particularly in the fields of civil aviation, airport management and land transport. He reaffirmed the Guinean authorities’ willingness to support any initiatives that could accelerate the opening of the air route, in accordance with the procedures in force.

At the end of the meeting, the EgyptAir representatives expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the discussions and the welcome they received. They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Guinean authorities to make the opening of a direct air route between Cairo and Conakry a reality as soon as possible.
