Air Transport: Ministry of Transport Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Air Peace
The Republic of Guinea recorded a significant milestone in the development of its air transport sector on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with the official arrival of the Nigerian airline Air Peace at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry. This inaugural flight, presided over by the Minister of Transport, marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Guinea and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as in improving air connectivity within the West African region.
The official ceremony was attended by the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Protection, Mr. Mory Condé; the Presidential Adviser in charge of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Yaya Sow; the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Guinea; as well as members of the ministerial cabinet and representatives of Air Peace.
In his address, the Minister of Transport welcomed the completion of a project initiated several years ago through the joint efforts of the Guinean authorities, former Air Guinée pilots based in Nigeria, the Guinean Civil Aviation Authority (AGAC), the Guinea Airport Management and Operations Company (SOGEAG), and all stakeholders operating at the airport.
The new service will operate weekly flights between Conakry, Bamako and Lagos, providing travelers with a direct connection that has become essential for economic, commercial, tourism and cultural exchanges across the sub-region.
Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo recalled that Air Peace has extensive experience in transporting pilgrims to the holy sites of Islam. This expertise will help strengthen the services available to Guinean pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage.
Through the Ministry of Transport, the Government, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, continues to pursue its policy of modernizing transport infrastructure and developing the aviation sector. In this regard, the Minister of Transport confirmed that the project to establish a private national airline is at an advanced stage. This new airline will complement existing services and contribute to sustainably improving domestic air connectivity as well as connections to major international destinations.
Furthermore, rehabilitation and modernization works at the regional airports of Labé and Kankan are progressing satisfactorily and are expected to be completed in the coming months. Their commissioning will pave the way for new domestic and regional routes, particularly to Dakar, Abidjan and Bamako, thereby strengthening the economic integration of the regions and improving the mobility of the population.
Through the arrival of Air Peace and the continuation of reforms undertaken in the transport sector, the Government reaffirms its determination to make Guinea a regional mobility hub, serving economic development, regional integration and improved travel conditions for citizens.
It should be noted that Air Peace operates a diversified fleet comprising aircraft with capacities of 50, 90, 110, 120, 275, 300 and 360 seats, with a fleet of nearly thirty aircraft.
