Morocco: ONDA Launches Multiple Tenders for Casablanca Airport’s New Terminal

Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) is advancing preparations for the development of a new terminal at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, launching several tenders covering construction works, technical equipment and quality control services.

The development of a new terminal at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport is progressing through a series of procurement procedures covering various aspects of the project. The tenders are intended to secure the technical expertise, equipment and services required to deliver the planned airport infrastructure.

The contracts cover several key components, including baggage-handling systems, electrical installations and quality-control services. These elements are essential to ensuring the future terminal operates efficiently and meets the technical requirements of a modern international airport.

Technical Equipment at the Heart of the Project

Among the main components of the programme are contracts for the supply, installation and commissioning of baggage-handling equipment. These systems play a critical role in airport operations, helping streamline passenger processing and improve the movement of luggage throughout the terminal.

The programme also includes high-voltage electrical infrastructure, notably the construction and commissioning of a 225 kV/22 kV electrical substation, together with the associated works required to integrate it into the airport’s facilities.

These investments are intended to provide the technical foundations needed to support the operation of the new terminal and its associated systems.

Quality Control to Support Project Delivery

Alongside construction and equipment procurement, ONDA is also seeking specialised services for quality control and monitoring. These assignments are designed to help oversee project execution and verify that the works comply with the applicable technical standards and specifications.

The range of tenders highlights the complexity of delivering major airport infrastructure, which requires coordination between construction contractors, equipment suppliers and quality-assurance specialists.

Casablanca’s Strategic Role in Morocco’s Aviation Sector

The development of Casablanca’s main airport forms part of Morocco’s broader efforts to strengthen its airport infrastructure and improve its capacity to accommodate growing passenger traffic.

As a key international gateway for the country, Mohammed V International Airport plays an important role in Morocco’s air connectivity, tourism development and economic exchanges. Expanding and modernising its facilities is therefore a strategic priority for the national aviation sector.

The new terminal project represents another step in this development strategy, with its delivery depending on the coordinated implementation of civil works, technical installations and operational systems.

The launch of these tenders marks an important stage in the procurement process, as Morocco continues to invest in infrastructure intended to strengthen the competitiveness and capacity of its aviation network.
